Your child has been invited to participate in an excursion to the Science & Engineering Challenge at TRECC, Tamworth on: Tuesday 19th March 2024 - Stage 5 This excursion has been planned for science/maths curriculum learning area The excursion will cost $0 The class will depart from Manilla Central School at 8:30am The students will return to Manilla Central School by 3:20pm Travel will be by Bus The students will be supervised by staff members Ms Lara Nielsen and support staff Students will need the following items on this excursion: writing pen snacks, lunch and water to be brought from home full school uniform Additional Information Students are involved in an exhilarating day working in teams to solve real-world challenges, from building an earthquake resistant tower, to optimising networks for high-speed rail, and sending encrypted messages with light. The days foster teamwork, build problem solving and collaboration skills and provide insights into future STEM careers to support the workforce needs of the future. Students may bring mobile phones on the excursion and are required to comply with our Yondr Mobile Phone Policy. Manilla Central School takes no responsibility for any loss or damage.

Dear parent/carer Your child has been invited to attend an excursion for Women In Sport at Tamworth Sports Dome on Monday 25th March 2024. This excursion has been planned for Wellbeing/PDHPE curriculum learning area. The excursion will cost $0 Students will depart from Manilla Central School at 9:30am Students will return to Manilla Central School at 1:00pm Travel will be by bus The students will be supervised by staff members Mrs Cowell, Miss Shultz (SSO), Heidi Hawley, Megan Turner and Jacqui Martin. Students are to wear sports uniform and will need the following items on this excursion: • sunhat and sunscreen • water bottle Additional Information Centacare NENW’s Women In Sport program invites female students from across the region to participate in a community event with Australian Soccer and Matilda star, Alex Chidiac. Alex will talk about her journey to becoming a Matilda. The event will be followed by a free sausage sizzle. Your child is required to attend an excursion for Year 12 Life Ready to Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre, Armidale from Wednesday 3rd April 2024 to Friday 5th April 2024. This excursion is a mandatory component of the HSC Curriculum and attendance is compulsory. The excursion will cost $50. Students will depart from Manilla Central School on Wednesday 3rd April 2024 at 7:45am. Students will return to Manilla Central School on Friday 5th April 2024 at 3:30pm. Travel will be by bus. The students will be supervised by staff members Mrs Cowell and Mr Van Doesburg Students will need the following items on this excursion: • a detailed list of what to bring is attached. Overnight excursion advice Accommodation will be at Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre, Armidale. Students will be camping for two nights. The group will be supervised by Mrs Cowell and Mr Van Doesburg. In the event of an emergency during school hours, please contact the school on 6785 1184. If it is after hours, please phone 0436 620 574. Additional Information Life Ready is a mandatory 25-hour course designed to prepare and support senior students as they encounter situations to health and safety as they become more independent and gain more responsibilities. It focuses on offering opportunities for students to build the functional knowledge and skills for post school. Life ready aims to help prepare senior students to: • Confidently and successfully transition to post-school employment, training or further education, as well as participation and independence in the community. • Lead healthy, safe and meaningful lives which promote respect, responsibility, enjoyment, inclusion and social justice for self and others Students may bring mobile phones on the excursion and are required to comply with our Yondr Mobile Phone Policy.
