Kindergarten’s Unit of Inquiry for Term 4 is Material and Physical World. The students have been gaining an understanding of how familiar products, places and spaces are made to suit a purpose. They have been developing an understanding of how things move. It has been fun to explore the push and pull forces they can use to move objects in ways such as sliding, bouncing, and spinning. To complement the unit, art and craft activities have been based on how to make paint move without using a paintbrush, as well as discovering the many different textures that make up material.
Mathematics has seen us investigating area. It was so much fun to cover the whole area of a large object with counters. We discovered the importance of not leaving any gaps. We have also been working on the concept of equal groups in multiplication.
KA have worked so hard all year on learning phonemes, camera words, reading, writing and Maths skills. They have had a successful year and have made valuable friendships. It is exciting and very rewarding to see the growth they have made during their first year at school. We are going to make the most of our last weeks together as KA, with lots of laughter as well as working hard until the end of the school year so we are ready to move up to Year One.
